Gracias, muchas gracias. Muy buenos días a todas, a todos, estimados colegas, distinguidos participantes.
Digamos, brevemente, que este es el evento más importante en el que pueden encontrarse tres comunidades diferentes. Empresas, emprendedores, startups, unicornios. Por otro lado, centros de investigación científica y tecnológica, distinguidos investigadores científicos de todo el mundo, así como universidades y funcionarios de gobiernos, distintos gobiernos, que deciden qué hacer con la ciencia y la tecnología y cuál es la agenda para cada país.
Así que esto es extraordinario. Por eso el STS Forum ha sido tan importante en los últimos años, porque esta fue la iniciativa original, el propósito del STS Forum: cómo organizar una sociedad con el apoyo de la ciencia y la tecnología, una mejor sociedad para todos. Así que esta es la primera vez que tenemos a estas grandes comunidades reunidas en México.
Hemos tenido varias veces el STS Forum, pero con otras amplitudes, otras representaciones, otro número de participantes. Pero ahora puedo informarles que hoy tenemos 5,913 personas participando en este evento. Han venido de 39 países de todo el mundo.
Tenemos también la representación de más de 80 fondos de inversión. Bienvenidos todos. Y contamos además con muchas instituciones de todo el mundo representadas aquí hoy.
Así que son muy bienvenidos.
Esta es la integración de un nuevo ecosistema, porque tradicionalmente somos comunidades distintas. Es difícil encontrarles a todos ustedes en un solo evento discutiendo qué hacer frente a los principales temas que nos preocupan hoy.
Por ejemplo, en el caso de estas primeras sesiones sobre agua, salud y genómica, biotecnología, cómo utilizar la biotecnología para todo, electromovilidad. Tiene sentido mantener esto, mantener las inversiones, expandir nuestras capacidades en este mundo actual. Hay países que dicen: “No, no, no, vamos a detener la electromovilidad”.
Bueno, México va a expandir la electromovilidad en los próximos años. Tendrán sesiones y discusiones sobre aeronáutica y espacio, como mencionó el secretario de Economía. Existen nuevas agencias entre países de América Latina y el Caribe.
¿Por qué? Porque van a unir esfuerzos, recursos y capacidades para ser más eficientes, para servir mejor a nuestras sociedades. Así que aquí tienen muchos temas, temas importantes. Y, sobre todo, el más importante es un sentido de esperanza.
Nuestro mundo hoy, lamentablemente, es un lugar riesgoso. Y se pueden ver actos de barbarie en muchas regiones del mundo. Aquí, entre 38 países y una comunidad tan amplia de todo el mundo, ustedes tienen un diálogo basado en el respeto hacia los demás.
La voluntad de comprender a otros países, otras necesidades, otras ideas. De compartir nuestras experiencias de aprendizaje. De intentar dialogar para resolver o encontrar soluciones a nuestros problemas.
Juntos. Un mensaje tan importante hoy. Casi tan importante como cada discusión tecnológica o científica que tendremos durante el día.
Así que el mensaje final es que la humanidad trata de esto. Libertad, respeto, derechos humanos. Ciencia, conocimiento.
Y el futuro de la humanidad se basa en esto. Así que sean muy bienvenidos a Cuernavaca, Morelos. Muchas gracias, señora Gobernadora, por su apoyo y su interés.
Estimados colegas —ministros de ciencia y tecnología, de economía, de salud— muchas, muchas instituciones presentes. Muchísimas gracias.
Este año pasado ha sido, por así decirlo, la preparación para una boda. El día de la boda. Es decir, hoy estamos muy, muy emocionados y con una actitud entusiasta de recibirles a todas y todos en nuestro país.
Muchas gracias. Realmente lo apreciamos.
Para concluir mi intervención, quisiera entregar a nuestros colegas japoneses del STS Forum, especialmente a la señora Serizawa, quien ha sido sumamente importante para este evento, y al señor Tsuchiya, que está aquí, la versión japonesa del viaje, el informe de Francisco Díaz Covarrubias, del siglo XIX, sobre su visita a Japón.
Y la parte más importante de este libro, casi al final, es una conversación entre Díaz Covarrubias y el Ministro de Educación de Japón, a finales del siglo XIX. Y él explica allí todo el conocimiento que existía entonces en México, la voluntad de compartir el conocimiento sobre astronomía, y especialmente sobre Venus, con el Ministro de Educación japonés y otros funcionarios. Así, Díaz Covarrubias relató la experiencia de la civilización maya sobre Venus, la observación de Venus, que era sumamente precisa incluso para los estándares actuales.
Y luego explica por qué los mexicanos estaban en Japón, para observar el tránsito de Venus en 1874. Le compartió toda la información sobre esto, y el Ministro de Educación de Japón respondió: “Bueno, esto es extraordinario, señor Díaz Covarrubias, ni siquiera tenemos relaciones diplomáticas. Es la primera vez que veo a un extranjero en nuestro país compartiendo conocimiento, y no amenazando a nuestro país, no tienen ninguna fuerza militar, no vienen a vender nada, y lo hacen solo por buena voluntad”.
Esto es asombroso. Obviamente ya tenemos relaciones, señor. No diplomáticas, pero científicas y basadas en la buena voluntad.
Y él dijo: “Algún día Japón visitará México para estar con su país y su comunidad. La ciencia es un puente entre México y Japón”. Esto fue a finales del siglo XIX.
La única relación exterior que México organizó por motivos de ciencia y buena voluntad. Ese es el mismo fundamento, el espíritu que explica este evento hoy. Todo será en favor de Japón, México y 38 países, y el evento será muy exitoso por ello.

Thank you, thank you very much. Good morning, everyone. Buenos días a todos, a todas, estimados colegas, dear colleagues, distinguished participants.
Let’s say, briefly, that this is the most important event in which you can find three different communities. Companies, entrepreneurs, startups, unicorns. On the other hand, scientific and technological research centers, scientific distinguished researchers all over the world, and also the universities and the officials of the governments, different governments, which decide what to do with science and technology and which are the agenda for each country.
So this is amazing. That’s why STS Forum has been so important in the past years, because this was the original initiative, the purpose of the STS Forum, how to organize a society with the support of science and technology, a better society for everyone. So this is the first time that we have these large communities together in Mexico.
We had several times STS Forum, but in other amplitudes, in other representations, in other number of participants. But right now, I can inform you that we have 5,913 people participating in this event today. They came from 39 countries all over the world.
We have the representation also of more than 80 investing funds. Welcome, everyone. And we have also many institutions all over the world represented today.
So you are very welcome.
This is the integration of a new ecosystem, because traditionally, we are different communities. It’s difficult to find all of you in one event discussing what to do with the main issues that concern us today.
For instance, in the case of these first sessions about water, health and genomics, biotechnology, how to use biotechnology for everything, electromobility. It makes sense to maintain this, to maintain the investments, to expand our facilities in this world right now. There are countries saying, no, no, no, we are going to stop electromobility.
Well, Mexico is going to expand electromobility in the next years. You are going to have sessions and discussions about aeronautics and space, as was mentioned by the Secretary of Economy. There are new agencies between Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Why so? Because they are going to put efforts and money and possibilities together in order to be more efficient, in order to serve our societies. So you have many issues here, important issues. And mainly, the most important one is a sense of hope.
Our world today, unfortunately, is a risky place. And you can see barbarian things in many regions of the world. So here, between 38 countries, and such a large community from all over the world, you have a dialogue based in respect to the others.
The will to understand other countries, other necessities, other ideas. To share our learning experience. To try to dialogue, to fix or to find solutions for our problems.
Together. Such an important message today. Almost so important that each technological or scientific discussion that we are going to have during the day.
So the message at the end is humanity is about this. Liberty, respect, human rights. Science, knowledge.
And the future of humanity is based on this. So you are very welcome to Cuernavaca Morelos. Thank you very much, Governor, for your support, your interest.
Dear colleagues from ministers of science and technology, economy, health. Many, many institutions present. Thank you very much.
This has been, during the past year, like a preparation for a wedding. The wedding day. I mean, we are very, very excited and enthusiastic attitude today to have you, all of you, in our country.
Thank you very much. We really appreciate this.
In order to finalize my intervention, I would like to give to our Japanese colleagues from STS Forum, especially Madam Serizawa, which has been extremely important for this event, and Mr. Tsuchiya, which is here, the Japanese version of the travel, the report of Francisco Díaz Covarrubias, 19th century, about the visit to Japan.
And the most important part of this book, almost in the end of the book, is a conversation between Díaz Covarrubias and the Minister of Education in Japan, latest 19th century. So, this is amazing. Obviously, we have already relationships, sir. Not diplomatic, but scientific, and goodwill-based relationship.
And he said, someday Japan is going to visit Mexico to be with your country and with your community. Science is a bridge between Mexico and Japan. This was late 19th century.
The only foreign relation that Mexico organized, because of science and goodwill. That’s the same basement, the spirit, that explains this event today. Everything is going to be in favor of Japan, Mexico, 38 countries, and it’s going to be very successful, this event, because of that.
This is the spirit of this event. Thank you very much, all of you. Thank you, thank you very much.
